Back in 1978, our parents realised their life’s dream of establishing their own guesthouse in a special location: The Alpenhof was built. With 12 guest rooms, each with an en-suite bathroom. Even in those days, the Alpenhof had a small outdoor swimming pool and a Finnish sauna, two stars, a restaurant, and a café, but didn’t have an asphalted road leading to it. The Alpenhof team consisted of the host family, one full-time employee, and one part-time employee.

1997 was an important year for us: We got married, extended the Alpenhof, and took over the business. The number of rooms grew to 21, and all existing rooms were upgraded. We also became a 3-star hotel. Our son Patrick was then 3 years old, Paul was born in 1999, and Sophia followed in 2001. In 2000, the first wellness area was created with 2 saunas, 1 relaxation room, and 2 treatment rooms. That earned us a place in the 3-star superior hotel category. Our Alpenhof team now consisted of 7 employees.

In 2007, we took a daring leap. We extended our hotel on all 4 sides and added 16 new suites to increase the number of rooms to 37. All dining rooms were renovated, the panoramic swimming pool and beauty farm were built, and the hotel lobby was created. A heating system was also introduced and we switched over to 100% renewable energy. Our hotel received 4 stars and our Alpenhof team grew to 22 employees.

In 2014, the Alpenhof became the Alpen Tesitin. “Alpen” pays homage to the Alpenhof, while “Tesitin” is the former name of our “sun village” of Taisten. The creation and upgrade of 32 suites and rooms saw us increase our number of rooms to 62. The hotel lobby, dining rooms, kitchen, and all service areas were reconstructed, as were the sauna area and beauty farm. We became a 4-star superior hotel. The Alpen Tesitin team grew with the host family to encompass 50 employees.

The entirety of the exterior architecture was redesigned with lots of glass, metal, and wood. By upgrading 30 rooms and suites and constructing 10 brand-new luxury penthouse suites, we adapted all rooms and suites to meet the wishes and requirements of today’s guests. The sun infinity pool with 180° dream view, the brine pool with salt water, the luxury infinity whirlpool, the infusion experience sauna, the plunge pool with mountain spring water, and the new garden enhanced the premium spa area. We had now earned the accolade of 5 stars. Our Alpen Tesitin team featured 61 enthusiastic, warm, and motivated employees.

Large glass elements, clear lines, fine materials, and lots of wood brought more nature, mountain views, and panoramas into the hotel. The hotel lobby, the bar, and the restaurants were redesigned and refurbished. The kitchen, laundry, wine bunker, and all storage rooms were reconstructed, and the underground garage was extended. A new gym, an exercise room, 2 treatment rooms, and 3 relaxation rooms enhanced the wellness area. The number of rooms grew to 78 with 3 new room categories. Our team now included 85 people, caring for our guests with great passion and enthusiasm.
